Chicago Sun-Times Features Peapod & Roadnet® Transportation Suite

In an article entitled, “Technology Makes Fast Food Hot”, the Chicago Sun-Times highlighted online grocer Peapod and their use of the Roadnet Transportation Suite by UPS Logistics Technologies to route their 300 vehicles.

“We’ve been able to decrease route-tracking costs by 30 percent in the past four months,” Ken Fanaro, Senior Manager of Logistics and Transportation Planning for Peapod, stated in the article. This makes a large difference for a company who is serving approximately 285,000 customers in 10 states.

Peapod uses Roadnet® to plan the routes for their vehicles and MobileCast® to track and manage any exceptions, such as a vehicle going off-route or a driver who might be speeding. The routing software by UPS Logistics Technologies helps Peapod obtain their goal of using as few trucks as possible, maintaining the same number of routing employees, and growing their sales.
